What Has George W. Bush Done Wrong?

I know this is a bit off topic but I really want to know. Normally I tend to stay pretty neutral on topics like politics and religion but, for me, this has been a burning question for quite some time. Can someone provide me with specific, and documented, examples of what exactly you feel George W. Bush has done wrong during his term as President of these United States.
This is a sincere question. In light of the poor economy that GWB walked into at the beginning of his term and how the economy is now, 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq, I want to know the details and the reasons that his approval rating is so low. GWB has went from the highest approval rating (90%) of any president, following the 9/11 attacks, to being tied with Jimmy Carter and having one of the lowest in history, at 28%, according MSNBC. The only President to have a lower "end of term" rating was Nixon at a reported 24%.
I realize that there is a growing division between liberals and conservatives and the issues that divide them seem to be based on morality issues. I can say one thing for sure (this may get me in trouble), and no one can argue to the contrary, that over the last 30 years we have seen a sharp decline in societal morality. I do understand the opposing argument; through whose eyes do we measure or gauge morality.
What do you think about GWB as a man vs. your thoughts of him as the President? Who, in your opinion, was the best President?
Again I know this is not a typical post on the Big Bald Blog, and I have probably opened a HUGE can of worms, but I do want to know what YOU think about all this.
Let me know your comments.

I believe that if morality is measured through anyone's eyes other than God then it is flawed. How do we know what God's measure of morality is? Look in the bible - it is chock full - a lifetime of reading with all the morality you need to base your life on. Check out Colossians 3.
Then it is moral not because it is right (in and of itself), but only because God says it is right?
Thanks for the comments guys. But the bigger question of what he has done wrong has yet to be answered.
The real question is what has he done right? Not much as far as I can tell.
OK Jeff. But give me some examples of what he has done wrong. I am not trying to be inflammatory here, I just want to know.
How many of you have seen the movie - "Who Killed the Electric Car"?
I agree, I don't know why everyone is like "I hate george bush!"
It must be pretty hard to run a huge country, and he hasn't done anything actually WRONG.
And people say 'what has he done right?'
HES RUNNING THE COUNTRY,
ha, i can agree with some people
when i ask some people who say that they hate george bush, they dont rreally have a reason
they just go with other people say
imagine having to run a country all by urself
he decided to start the war,
and now so many americans have to owe money because HE decided to sent troops to iraq.
raised prices for gas and everything is more expensive now a days. it is pretty difficult to run a country but to make drastic decisions is the worst thing possible!
it's just a disaster with him being president, this country is going to become nothing!
i hate bush supporters! he doesnt care for the united states!
blahblahhh - you must not have read the post. As far as the President starting a war,I didn't think that was possible. I mean, the way our govt is set up, one man can not take this entire country to war. I thought that our entire government had to do that.

Finally, I see the question asked in the post becoming a more and more popular question. I am glad to see it finally be asked. All the liberal parrots squawk alike and repeat whatever they are fed by their propagandist media outlets.
Has our economy gone down with Bush in office? No. Will it fall apart with a Demo-rat president and congress? Yes. Has unemployment increased while Bush has been in office? No. Will it increase with the social-communist attitudes of Clinton or Obama? Yes, since they will raise huge taxes and force companies to lay off thousands.
People, get real. You don't do your own homework and research, but you will spout off the liberal mantra as a reflex. Too bad most of you libs are the ones that will be hurt most if the Dems have full control of congress and oval office.
Key Point: Quit blaming President Bush for every single thing you think up. One, it's irrational. And two, a president does not magically control everything under the sun.
I pray that we can at least have our moderate McCain in office to prevent the control by Dems that will truly ruin the USA.
P.S> I only went Anonymous since I was too lazy to get a Google account set up.
Ohhh anon you tick me off. You see the the reason for having lib. and conserv. is because people have different view points. And you sitting here spouting about evil libs and yay conservs just makes you look like a hypocrite! I am liberal but I respect conserv unless they think they have god given rights and all who differ are simply wrong...period.Those kind are not even people...if you don't respect anothers views you are trash...pig headed trash!
As far as the war is concerned, its true it can't be all Bush's fault. Congress is to blame, they gave permission (a Rep. congress I might add) but it was Bush's idea to begin with.
And has no one seen the news about him hording oil in the reserves...in case of a terrorist attack....The reserves are at 97% so lets keep packing them full while our people are paying $4.00 a gallon. Thank god our new Dem. congress is fighting Bush over this matter.
And Bush's recent attack on Obama while in Israel...how petty!!! I agreed with Pelosi that
[i]"You know we have a protocol ... that we don't criticize the president when he's on foreign soil," Pelosi said when asked for reaction to Bush's speech, adding that she also believes Bush "should not criticize Americans when he is on foreign soil." [\i]
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitol-briefing/2008/05/pelosi_slams_bush_for_israel_s.html
SO! if you want to support Bush thats fine...but don't try and say that liberals are nothing but parrots. As far as I'm concerned its your type of thinking (anon) that will ruin our country and promotes the American Ego that we are so hated for in other countries.
OMBAMA 08!!!!! The best choice.
oh and P.S.
Don't pray for me...religion has no place in my government.
I am just telling all my friends to write my name in. :)
1. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. "Cancer come on down!!!!"
2. Cut federal spending on libraries by $39 million. To hell with learning
3. Cut $35 million in funding for doctors to get advanced pediatric training. But what about the kids?
4. Cut by 50% funding for research into renewable energy sources. Ahhh, Who needs it?
5. Revoked rules that reduced the acceptable levels of arsenic in drinking water. Arsenic is the basis of a healthy daily diet!
6. Blocked rules that would require federal agencies to offer bilingual assistance to non-English speaking persons. This, from a candidate who would readily fire-up his Spanish-speaking skills in front of would-be Hispanic voters.
7. Proposed to eliminate new marine protections for the Channel Islands and the coral reefs of northwest Hawaii (San Francisco Chronicle, April 6, 2001). They may be considered a state, but they dont connect to texas so oh well
8. Cut funding by 28% for research into cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks. Not going green anytime soon
9. Suspended rules that would have strengthened the government's ability to deny contracts to companies that violated workplace safety, environmental and other federal laws. Cheneys crew would have had 195 violations on one job site alone.
10. OK'd Interior Department appointee Gale Norton to send out letters to state officials soliciting suggestions for opening up national monuments for oil and gas drilling, coal mining, and foresting. Tear em down, who needs em!
11. Appointed John Negroponte - an un-indicted high-level Iran Contra figure to the post of United Nations Ambassador. Google this guy LOL, what a joke!
12. Abandoned a campaign pledge to invest $100 million for rain forest conservation. Again, not going green anytime soon!
13. Reduced by 86% the Community Access Program for public hospitals, clinics and providers of care for people without insurance. To hell with the poor!!!
14. Rescinded a proposal to increase public access to information about the potential consequences resulting from chemical plant accidents. What we dont know wont hurt us...Right?
15. Suspended rules that would require hardrock miners to clean up sites on Western public lands. Ahhh it may be deadly toxic but the islanders will get it.
16. Cut $60 million from a Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America program for public housing. To hell with the youth too!!!!
17. Proposed to eliminate a federal program, designed and successfully used in Seattle, to help communities prepare for natural disasters. A Bill Bill Clinton had at congress right before he left his seat. Thanks for shooting it down GWB...Katrina anyone??
18. Pulled out of the 1997 Kyoto Treaty global warming agreement. Once again, bush is not a greeney!!
19. Cut $200 million of work force training for dislocated workers. Go work at McDonalds or something jeezzz, gas is only 3.40 a gallon and cost of living has tripled over 7 years since bush took over. Minimum wage??? .05% Did you know gas was 1.35 when clinton left office?
20. Eliminated funding for the Wetlands Reserve Program, which encourages farmers to maintain wetlands habitat on their property. What y'all talkin bout, pesticide is great for the forest, havent ya ever hear pesticide wood...or was that petrified??
21. Cut program to provide childcare to low-income families as they move from welfare to work. To Hell with the poor!!!
22. Cut a program that provided prescription contraceptive coverage to federal employees (though it still pays for Viagra). Lol no joke needed.
23. Cut $700 million in capital funds for repairs in public housing. Arent them poor folk use to it?
24. Appointed Otto Reich - an un-indicted high-level Iran Contra figure - to Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs. Again...google this one. Its actually amazing.
25. Cut Environmental Protection Agency budget by $500 million.
26. Proposed to curtail the ability of groups to sue in order to get an animal placed on the Endangered Species List. Bald eagle shooooot itttttt!!!
27. Rescinded the rule that mandated increased energy-saving efficiency regulations for central air conditioners and heat pumps.
28. Repealed workplace ergonomic rules designed to improve worker health and safety.
29. Abandoned campaign pledge to regulate carbon dioxide, the waste gas that contributes to global warming.
30. Banned federal aid to international family planning programs that offer abortion counseling with other independent funds.
31. Nominated David Lauriski - ex-mining company executive - to post of Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.???
32. Allowed mortgage companies to spread mass fraud to increase home sales and to stimulate interests and economic state to insure no problems with starting iraq war. Since then the country is about to bottom out. Bankruptcies and Foreclosures are at an all time high, and when I say all time high its not like its up .02% its up 670%. since 2001. Sure we paid more tax with Clinton but we werent going bankrupt!!!
33. Heres a link to our own House of Reps. and what they think of the "man" http://appropriations.house.gov/
Oh you republican parrots are just squawking your Fox news Propaganda. It's the basic point of democracy...the majority...and the majority of the people say Bush is a loser and we need change.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-08-26-bush-poll_x.htm
And don't tell me that what is unpopular is sometimes whats right. Because our Democratic beliefs are unpopular to you...well wouldn't that mean they are right...even if they are unpopular.
Okay spike whatever the heck your name is, seriously, are you that much of a "liberal parrot"? America was founded on the basis of we are right eff everyone else. Why does all of the sudden america have to become a wimp country and force us to lose our pride. we have always been a no-nonsense country that doesn't take shit from anyone. thats why we are hated, but thats also why we are respected. If you don't like the foundation of america then get the H*** out. we don't want America haters anyways. Bush has done only one thing wrong in my book, The "no child left behind" policy. That's stupid. But other then that he has led this country better then some others have and better then obama wil. Obama is planning for a socialist economy. What?!?!?!?!? if you want the C*** go to effin canada, they have nice Mounties too. but quit hating on america cuz u know what, we hate you!
President OBAMA!!!
So, what the anonymous poster on May 30 mostly said is that Bush cut spending during a war and while the US is ten trillion dollars in debt (check US national debt clock). Not only that, he is cutting spending in *gasp* global warming, which is definitely high-priority while we are in war, and trying to defend the nation against terrorists. Not to mention that global warming is a MYTH, and that recently the polar ice caps have halted their melting. Darn the climate and its susceptibility to change. Darn those finicky polar ice caps!
As for him blocking a requirement that federal agencies offer bilingual assistance to non-english speaking people.... Umm, I don't guess you've noticed, but LEGAL immigrants are supposed to know or be learning english. In addition, ENGLISH is the language that this country was founded upon. If we are going to change our national language to include Spanish then we should also include the language of any country that decided to invade the US en masse illegally. Anyway maybe Bush was trying to show the LEGAL immigrants or hispanic citizens that he respects their culture. Or at least, respects it enough to get to know the language. But I don't know.... being the evil man he is, he probably just took the time to learn the language to gain the large voting block that is hispanic support *rolls eyes*. Wait though, if he was trying to gain hispanic support why would he fight against illegal immigration so vehemently.... The question of the hour.
Now, the accessibility of alternative fuel and renewable resources is actually important. All I am going to say to this is that spending has been cut in practically everything, even aid to the poor. While I agree that there should be some aid for the poor, I do think some of it needs to be cut. Why? Because when a homeless person can eat three hearty meals a day and have shelter there is no point in contributing to society in getting a JOB!!! Why work hard when the government rewards you if you are a complete abject FAILURE. Want examples? How about the banks that were handing out sub-prime mortgages. What about people on welfare who get extra money for having more kids that they will likely abuse and neglect. I'm sorry, but if you are having more kids to get more money, you are a pathetic human being. Oh yeah, and about him giving out bad loans and stuff to gain funding for the Iraq war.... If that could be proven (or even assumed) I'm pretty sure the media would be all over it. What about Barney Frank? What about individual responsibility? Ah-to hell with it. Lets just blame everything on George Bush because it's convenient. A lot of people seem to assume that he has all of this power to do whatever he wants as president and therefore he screwed up the entire nation. Here's a news flash, we have checks and balances so that means congress has to CREATE legislation and the PRESIDENT has to approve it. No one ever places any blame on the people whose job it is to actually run these parts of the nation. The president can't manage everything.
Anyway, the farming and water quips are obviously HUGE mistakes seeing as they have affected a majority of the people in the US. As for George W. only caring about Texas... lol...
And the rest I don't have time to discuss, but you get my drift. Let's judge by logic rather than emotion.
~Natalie
Immigration does need reform. I can not blame a person for bring their family to a better place so they can survive or have a better life. If my family was severely poor and could not afford the expensive visa fees that cost in the thousands when the Mexico minimum wage is around $3 a day (no exaggeration), I would do whatever it takes as well. When Cubans get here they are not illegal but Mexicans are because we hate Castro and the Cuban Regime. I have question i haven't researched it but maybe someone can answer. As a country we go around the world stopping things we see as unfit and wrong, we stop governments from hurting their people. Mexico is (from what I hear) a very corrupt government where everyone takes bribes. They are our neighbors and our biggest immigrant concern why don't we just go there and put a stop to this?
And as a response to this from Natalie "Because when a homeless person can eat three hearty meals a day and have shelter there is no point in contributing to society in getting a JOB!!"
I'm pretty sure the funding was going to the "working poor". 12 to 16 percent of the US is in what the government considers poverty. And the government does not consider you to be in poverty unless you make under $18,000 a year. And when it comes to homeless people getting jobs.....well have you ever tried getting a job when you have no phone number for potential employees to call, no address, no nice 'interview' clothing, no resume or recent references, and are so focused on just being able to eat or find a safe place to sleep that you can hardly think straight? There is also such as strong stigma, that many employers will not hire someone they know is homeless. Plus, many homeless people have mental disabilities, or have just left abusive home situations, and really just need somewhere to help get better so that they can become productive members of society. Most of us don't know where to go for help so what makes us think they do? You can't judge a person until you walk a mile in their shoes truthfully.
And on the topic of Bush, I didn't like how he and john McCain didn't want to increase the GI Bill for veterans for the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans so that we may ensure out futures as regular American citizens at some point. It does kill me in fact how he gets credit for this bill going though just because he ended up signing it when he was very against it. I don't like the thought of America's heroes staying in the military just because they have nowhere else to go. Senator McCain really lost my vote with this, it really surprised he was opposed to this and Senator Obama was a front runner in pushing it forward along with Senator Webb. I won't blame everything on President Bush I did not agree with many moves he made.
Anonymous, you are about as ignorant as George W. Bush. You obviously have not done your homework. He is absolutely horrible as a President. Define for me the term recession and it's relevancy to depression, and then maybe you will come to the realization that our economy is in the second worst condition that it has ever been in HISTORY, dear. Sincerely, THE MOST EDUCATED AND ELOQUENT LIBERAL YOU KNOW.
