Deer Hunting In Iowa.
For those of you who are anti-hunting you might want to look away right now.
Most people are aware that white tailed deer hunting is now open across the Midwest. From Minnesota and Wisconsin to Missouri and Kansas, hunters are putting on their blaze orange and hitting the woods. Here in Iowa, the DNR has issues extra licenses in numerous counties to try and thin the deer population and lockers across the state are participating in the HUSH program where the meat goes to feed the hungry. "Nearly 6,500 deer were donated by hunters to HUSH last year, generating more than 1 million meals to Iowa's less fortunate. It is expected that more than 7,000 will be donated in the 2007-08 season."
The pictures below are of a monster buck that was taken by a friend of a friend with a muzzleloader here in Iowa. Ladies and gents, this is one big deer!
I just can't get over how massive this old boy was.

You're not kidding when you say that is a HUGE buck. I think that's as big as some of the elk I have shot.
Hi Big Pappa. Wow, nearly 7000 deer per year. I guess there must be many of those monster buck over there in the Midwest.
Yeah, I gotta admit, it was one big deer.
Greetings and lotta loves from Malaysia.
Well, he has already seen his prime for sure. Hope the meat is not to tough.
Thanks for dropping by.
A couple of years ago I was hunting with a group and one of the guys got a buck that scored 189 1/8th, this one looks bigger than that. Simply amazing. Thanks for the comments guys!
How many points?
I am not a hunter, but pretty much everyone else in Illinois is. I love when folks bring deer jerky to work.
I have no problem with hunting...I just would rather sit in a bar and drink and eat all day instead of sitting in a cold tree stand.
LOL
@Allyn
And let me tell you. It was miserable this year! I sat in the rain all day Saturday. Had to go to the laundromat and dry my clothes twice.
sick!
how could you take the life of that magnificent beast?
@anonymous - I don't know where you are from but the DNR in Iowa is aggressively managing the deer in the state. Either they are hunted or they begin to starve to death. The deer population has begun to grow out of control. More and more accidents are being reported on the roadways from people hitting them with their cars and the deer are becoming a problem for farmers as well. Sorry, this post was offensive to you anonymous.
amazing deer crazy!!!
