" What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.1 - Issue 10

In the interest in keeping with tradition and the fact that these seem to be the most read posts from stumblers, here is the latest edition of, "What I found in my email" Mondays.

I received this today from my Dad. The email was entitled, "Engineering Question.
The question was posed about how much a house weighs. The answer; evidently more than a rural, 2 lane bridge can hold. Here are the pictures.

house breaks the bridge

It's my guess that someone is going to owe someone else a new house. I wonder if they dishes are OK?

Well, that's it for this Monday. OH, and make sure you enter the contest for the iPod. The post says we are celebrating 15,000 unique visitors for the month, but so far we have surpassed 20,000 as of today and it's all because of you.

With the sincerest heart, I would like to thank all of you for stopping by The Big Bald Blog. Merry Christmas to you and yours and may this holiday season be filled with warmth and laughter, the things memories are made with.

With warmest regards,

Andy

A carpeted covered bridge nonetheless.

It never ceases to amaze me as to how stupid some people can be. I drove trucks and hauled trailer houses and we always respected load limits on bridges. That along with heights for underpasses was something that had to be watched out for with every load we carried.

That question is similar to one that came up recently in Los Angeles. The question was how high is an overpass above the 101 freeway. The answer was lower than the height of the house on the trailer. That house ended up sitting on the side of the freeway for a week. It was mighty amusing.

Has anyone seen that picture of the truck wedged under an overpass? All the adults were baffled on how to get the truck out. Just when they were getting ready to cut the thing up, a little child suggested that they let the air out of the tires. What do yo u know, it worked. The power of the unencumbered mind.
