You're Never To Old To Learn Something New
Yesterday I got tagged for a meme. OK, first of all I don't know what a meme is or even how to pronounce it. Is it "meeem" or "me me" or is it "mem". I don't know. So I set out on a quest to find out exactly what this is.
According to Wikopedia, it is "as defined within memetic theory, constitutes a theoretical unit of cultural information, the building block of cultural evolution or diffusion that propagates from one mind to another analogously to the way in which a gene propagates from one organism to another as a unit of genetic information and of biological evolution.[1] Multiple memes may propagate as cooperative groups called memeplexes (meme complexes)."
If only you could see the blank look on my face.
After many more hours of exhaustive research, I can now tell you that meme rhymes with dream. YES! We're making some progress here. Moving on I find that, basically, a meme is an idea that spread from person to person, grows and multiplies until it has influence a multitude or even an entire generation. Memes are very reminiscent of viral marketing.
However in the case of me getting tagged to participate in a meme, it's more like an old fashioned chain letter. Bloggers that get tagged by someone to participate in a meme meaning that they are expected to keep in motion the initial set of instructions that the creator of the meme put forth.
Now I may have this COMPLETELY wrong and if I do, someone please set me straight.
So this is me fulfilling my obligation to my good friend Sam Freedom who was kind enough to give me some love in the foundation of this meme.
So Here They Are, The Simple Entrecard Meme Instructions
- Read these instructions twice;
- Drop your EntreCard at this site;
- Drop your EntreCard at the 5 EntreCard users' sites listed below;
- Choose 5 other EntreCard users;
- Copy these instructions to your own Entrecard meme article and tag (link) those 5 people;
- Include a link to the Entrecard meme article of the person who tagged you;
- Link to the original article "Sam Freedom's Drop Squad - the First Entrecard Meme Known to Bloggers";
- Notify the people you choose that they've been tagged;
- Comment below so even passers-by can drop their card at your site, too (it shows you are active and will likely return the favor)
- (optional) IF you tag your blogs, use both "entrecard" and "entrecard meme" as tags so that others can find them AND so that we can find them all later as this grows. (If you don't know what tagging is, don't worry.)

I'm glad that you've read my policy (it makes me cringe a little less). :)
ha ha ha... Sorry Al. I'll make it up to. I will come cut your lawn for ya.
Don't worry, Al. No one can see you wearin' the pink tutu as you follow through on the meme. ;-)
Nicely done, Big Pap... nicely done. Just you watch, now... the love is gonna come back tenfold.
Sam
thanks for the tag Big Pappa :)
You're killing me dude! Meme coming up. I'm really glad this isn't anything like the original Meme...
Great article. Here is the definition by Merriam Webster. "an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture."
I guess I have some work to do to keep this little idea going.
Nice? I'm going to club this meme crap like a baby harp seal!

Thank GOD someone took the time to explain this whole meme business.
I knew the actual word meme (rhymes with dream) from a class I took a few years ago.
I had NO IDEA how that could possibly apply to the blogosphere...
Your blog has served me well this day!
I appreciate it,
