My Favorite TV Commercial Of All Time.
I know, I know, we have been down this road before. I was hoping for something new or something fresh this year from the Super Big Game Bowl (what ever we can call it), but again, I was let down. In fact I have been disappointed since 2002 when, what I believe to be, the greatest television commercial of all time was released.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Terry Tate, Office linebacker.
Reebok made a series of shorts around the Terry Tate character. The acting is great, the effects are good, but the writing is over-the-top without being in your face. I mean seriously, take a look at the name of the company. Also, in the sensitivity training video, pay attention to the name of the HR firm that they hired.
Lester "Mighty Rasta" Speight (the actor playing Terry Tate) did an awesome job. Lines like "you kill the joe, you make some mo", and "you can't bring that weak a** stuff up in this humpity-bumpity" are simply priceless. I don't care how many times I go back and watch this, it makes me laugh every time.
So let me have it. What do YOU think is the best television commercial of all time? What is your favorite spot and why? Try and convince me otherwise and maybe I'll reconsider, but probably not. Until then Terry Tate has my vote for the best TV commercial of all time.

I don't know about the best commercial ever, but I laugh every time when I see a cell phone commercial with two guys in the locker room discussing how great this phone is. One guy says the phone has a theft deterant system and tells the other guy to go ahead and try to take it. He then throws it at the guys head and he falls over! You don't expect that to happen and it tickles my funny bone!
I'm old school.
I like the old Diet Coke commercials with MJ Fox, "The Choice of a New Generation"
THat stuck as an icon of the 1980s.
I also like the old Spuds Mckenzie spots.
To me, those are timeless marketing initiatives that made major impacts on society.
Taco Bell dog is similar in a more modern setting.
I like Office Linebacker cuz it is a Buccaneer in there!
Stellar. Thanks for the laugh after a long day at work...
LOL
Nothing's funnier than watching someone get tackled out of the blue like that! Okay, maybe hits to the crotch or head, but definitely tackles are in the top three. :)
I'll do you one better... I had my husband tape the game so I could later watch it, fast foward through the game and watch the commercials! They're the best part of the game! Well, that and the half time. :) I had not interest in either team and what's the sense of watching it after you know who won? I heard a portion of it on the radio and it was only the end that was really exciting.
Besides, they pulled GoDaddy's ad so they don't deserve my full attention. (That's an overstatement for effect but it did annoy me... stupid reason too!) I'm female so I can say that... 'cause I'm right!
