"What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.2 - Issue 9

Welcome back from the weekend and welcome to the next edition of "what I found in my email" Monday!

In an email entitled, "I want to be trailer trash", I was surprised to find the following images.

And here is the happy trailer trash family!

Wow, if this is what "trailer trash" living is all about, I want some too.

Have a great week everyone!

What the... How much would that cost? I should buy a house if cost too much..

The only thing that looks real about these photos is the car trundle. The inside photos of the various rooms are not all of the same vehicle.

We have a program on HGTV that shows what is new in RV living. These campers are amazing and cost more than most homes.

The only places you could travel to are the ones with super highways. And the highways with a gas station every 10 miles.

That is real, it was on an episode of Top Gear.

Why are there plants and pumpkins in front of the RV wheels? It looks like the wheels are off the ground. Something is fishy about it.

At March 13, 2008 10:34 AM , Anonymous George said...

The reason the wheels are lifted off the ground is because when the car "compartment" is opened, the chassis of the RV is lifted. If this wasn't done, then you simply wouldn't ever be able to get the car out (or in in the first place) I would imagine it also increases stability, as the RV is now resting on hard, flat surfaces as opposed to round, rubber wheels...something that would make me feel a little bit better when moving my super-expensive sportscar in and out of my super-expensive RV.

It can be the same. Those boys can be widened or narrowed. I saw one, but inside it there was a Smart instead of the slk.

I would assume that this puppy is going to cost at least a 1/2 to 3/4 of a million. Not including the Mercedes of course.

AND yes, you would have to keep gas stations in mind when you are driving this. At $3.20 per gallon, it's going to be expensive anywhere you go. However if you can afford something like this, you probably aren't worried about the gas mileage.

It`s about 2 million Euros or Pounds , don`t remember clearly, without the "car" in the trunk.

At March 14, 2008 3:11 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

What? That can't be. Most of those rooms (bathroom, bedroom) have to be in a large yacht. No way that RV has that much square footage. Unless there's camera tricks involved.

it's a nice vehicle, the top gear episode in the UK didn't have a merc underneath, although I forget what luxury sports car it was - I seem to recall it cost just short of £1m/US$2m...for that money, i'd get me other stuff!

Big pappa..

You americans are a bit dumb, you think $3.20 a gallon is a lot, when we have to pay at least $7.60 a gallon here in Sweden!

You drive oversized cars, ecause you can afford it.

Destroying the world for the rest of us!

Oh, yes. I completely understand that you people from Europe spend a LOT more on gas. I am not complaining. In fact, I am saying the opposite. I realize how fortunate how I am and how good I have it living in this country!

maybe if some of you actually built something or understood anything about mechanics you wouldn't be so quick to wank about photoshopping. get off your mommies laptop and go out to the garage and spark up a welder. infantiized wankers!

I think the only camera trick is the first few pics don't show how ridiculously wide it is. Also the plants and pumpkins are blocking the pneumatic arms that lift the van up to make clearance for taking the car out (or putting it away).

You Swedes obviously aren't the brightest either. Americans drive, on average, much MUCH longer distances than those in European countries.

It's not physically possible for all the interior pictures to be from the same vehicle as the exterior pictures. In particular, pictures 6 and 7 (interior) show large side windows; none of the exterior shots have windows that large.

You guyz are all missing the most important feature: is it zombie-proof? Why would you buy an RV if it's not zombie-proof? Camping??? Retarded. Who camps in a zombie apocolypse?

Have none of you "photoshop" dipshits ever heard of slide-outs? When the RV is parked sections slide out to give you more room inside.

to ryden: We are stupid because we can afford to drive larger cars?
Great socialist logic there.

This is a real campervan! Or House on wheels, what ever its called. IT was on an episode of topgear, and the car does appear out the side.

Its called 'the performance'

It costs £750,000 or 1.5 million dollars - without the car. It might not be an identical model, but you get the idea!

At March 16, 2008 12:24 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

plus... $3.20 per gallon? Flippin eck thats cheap! Here in the UK its £1.02p approx per liter... yes... LITER!

Thats almost £4 per gallon... or $8 per gallon in the UK - wonder why US has so many Hummers? Cos you can afford to drive me and destroy the planet thats why.

There are many Class A motorhomes to this extent of luxury, many at the 1 mil. mark. but I am not sure this interior does go with this exterior. I do not think it is photoshopped, I just think the interior pics are of another motorhome. If you look in the window above the mercedes, tou will see woodgrain cabinets, and then if you look at the interior shot looking forward, where that window would be, it is living room with no overhead woodgrain cabinets. infact, different color scheme altogether. I think this was just a mixup of someone thinking these interior shots went with this particular motorhome. I could be wrong, but go ahead and look in the window for yourself.

As an aside, the increasing gas prices in the US ARE a problem, as most areas do not have reasonably accessable public transportation, and if we can't afford to drive, we can't get to work to get paid, etc etc etc.

I do not own an SUV, and it is a problem for me.

At March 16, 2008 5:17 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The reason we "dumb" Americans (thanks for putting us all in the same boat) bitch about gas prices when we know very well that it costs twice as much in Europe is because we don't have an alternative. The only alternatives are walking, biking, and taking a bus. The first two can take too long when we need to commute 15 miles to work twice a day, and buses often only offer local routes. We don't have subways and trains everywhere (I really don't know why we don't) to provide long-distance mass transportation, so driving is often the only viable method of travel. And besides, our internet is ridiculously slow and expensive compared to just about everywhere else in the world, but we usually don't bitch about that either, so touche.

At March 16, 2008 7:25 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The photos look to be taken with a wide angle lens. That gave a greater view of the rooms but also made them look bigger than they are. This would also account for window distortion and distortion of any straight lines. The pumpkin and plants were placed probably because the photos were taken at a "show". There in the possibility also that the unit is lifted by hydrolics in order to get the car out.

Obviously not all of the bedrooms are inside of this vehicle, it shows at least 3 LARGE bedrooms, and from the outside it just doesn't seem to have the room. My guess is they are different bedroom shots to show you what you can get in one of these things.

Okay, who is the stupid one; the one that pays $3.20 for a gallon of gas or the one that pays $7.00?

You Europeans are so smug. You think because you pay more you are smart. I have some land for sale in the middle of country here in the U.S. For Americans it is going for $75,000, but for I'd be willing to give it to the Swede for $200,000. I'm sure you'd feel pretty good about yourself after that.

@Ryden Way to blanket statement there buddy. Not ALL Americans drive big gas guzzling cars. A lot of us, have driven small, gas efficient cars for a long time. Don't bundle us all together just because there are asses out here that drive big cars. I'm sure there are plenty of people across the pond that are driving the most efficient cars either.

I don't even drive, and I'm American. I walk to work, carpool when I travel to other cities, and take the public transit (buses and train) whenever I'm visiting my parents in Portland, OR.

It might be zombie proof. I mean, if you can afford to spend that much money for a house on wheels, it probably has zombie-proof windows and stuff like that. :)

Diesel near me is £1.19 a lire, equates to £5.41 per imperial gallon, or £4.50 per US gallon Approx $9.00. Id just love this vehicle but may be bankrupt by the second fuel stop!

... and so to conclude, although the pictures are from two separate vehicle's, the two different rug patterns suggest this for me, there isn't one of use who wouldn't give our right (or left, or both u lucky ambi-dexterous people) arm for one of these assuming that petrol was included in the package offered. Oh and a car too.

Au contraire mr. Brettm, I would say that the 5th picture could be the same vehicle, but 4 and 6 are most definitely not - picture 1 shows a full windscreen and picture 4 shows a divider down the middle.

It's possible that the interior photos are of a different model from the same motorhome show.

Therere are three rooms : 1. a small one in front, where the driver is, 2. a large room which is shown in about 4 decorative variations (they decorated and furnished the truck 4 times and took pictures each time - so one might choose the favourite one) and in the back of the truck there might be the 3. bathroom.

Why would anyone with that much money drive somewhere (which is probably more expensive, anyway) just to stay in a glorified hotel on wheels, but without housekeeping.

Where could they possibly be going that would justify that thing? Camping? I'm thinking if you can't leave home without that much posh, getting dirty is out of the question.

Ha ha ha... I never thought about that. Where would you go? Your right, if you can afford that, you can afford to fly and be pampered with room service. They probably wouldn't go camping and deal with the bugs and dirt. The only thing that I can imagine is if someone was to live in this thing after they sold their house and are traveling across the country on a permanent road trip or something.

If I remember correctly, one of the reasons gas costs so much in some parts of Europe is because the government takes some of that money to fund projects to build and repair highways. America doesn't exactly do that, so that's why our gas doesn't cost as much.
