This Is How I Feel.

Normally I am a "winter" lover, but for some reason this year it is really starting to get to me. It's not so much the cold or the snow, it's the ICE. Everywhere and under everything. I got stuck on a flat alley yesterday AND I have a 4 wheel drive truck. But like the cartoon says, at least we don't have hurricanes. So what's the point? The point is, I can't wait for summer.

AND, since I am such a slacker and I didn't post yesterday. Today is a 2 for 1 day. It's time for some more "customer love." Not too long ago we launched a new website for a Budweiser distributor in Waterloo, Iowa. They wanted a new look, some additional marketing functionality and the ability to control their own content. This is what they got!

Fahr Beverage - Budweiser

Have a great weekend everyone!

Looks Like I Will Have To Get Rid Of My Bag Phone

As of February 19th cell phone carriers, including AT&T, Alltel and Verizon Wireless, began turning off their analog networks. I wondered why my bag Phone stopped working. I loved my bag phone. It was heavy, it would fit into a backpack just fine and it was extremely powerful. I could be in the middle of a swamp (because there's a bunch of swamps around) and still get reception.

It seems that in 2002 the FCC decided to allow carries to turn off their analog networks beginning this year. The result? It will free up the radio spectrum and allows digital technology to be used more efficiently.

I am sure that you would have been notified but if you have an analog alarm on your house or have an OnStar system on your vehicle that is older than 2003, it's probably working as good as my bag phone.

Hold the phone there cowboy! I just found something. It appears that all hope is not lost for the bag phone connoisseur. I see that Motorola has the M900 and M800 bag phone available, AND they can be had for the low, low price of only $699.99

What a deal! But at least you can be 3 times further away from a tower and still get good reception.

Long live the Bag Phone!

SiteHoppin BABY!!

There are a few sites on the internet that I try and stop by every day. Gorilla Sushi, A Strange Life and Blogsters Guild just to name a few. Mostly because I want to see what they are going to say next. If you have ever seen the movie about Howard Stern called "Private Parts", according to the NBC executive in the movie, the reason for his ratings being so high was that "people wanted to see what he would say next."

This is exactly why I stop by the SiteHoppin blog. When I first ran across this blog, I thought to myself, good grief, this is the most annoying thing I have ever laid my eyes on. But you see, in the beginning, I simply didn't get it.

Well, I get it now and I have to tell you, it IS hilarious. At first I thought that it was going to be like the train wreck Anna Nicole Smith Show. Seriously, I HATED that show, but for some reason I couldn't keep my eyes off of it. If I was flipping the channels and it was on, some unknown force would compel me to stop and stare at the screen. I would get so mad at that show. How could someone so stupid have their own show? Why are people watching this? Are people like me or do they find this entertaining? I would complain how Hollywood will exploit anything. After about 15 minutes of ranting my wife would usually come in and say in calm voice, "why do you watch it?" or "just turn the channel." Yeah right, she didn't know anything.

So here I am on the SiteHoppin Blog. There's this crazy cat named Max who makes videos of himself in his kitchen drinking SOJU and Mickey's. Mostly he rambles about SiteHoppin, getting drunk, site stats, cooking, drinking, and what ever comes to mind. Oh did I mention getting drunk?

As of this post, the most recent episode informs us of his quest for knowledge in the Java and Ajax world. He also lets it slip that he is broke because of recent server upgrades. I kind of feel bad for Max, given his recent bout in the hospital. I may send him some cash, but I don't know, we will have to see. I am still trying to figure out if he really is broke or this whole thing is a well orchestrated production. Nonetheless, it is entertaining AND I am compelled to check back every day. I may even go out and locate some SOJU to make my own video and send it to max.

Actually there's more to SiteHoppin than just the crazy blog. It is a new kind of social bookmarking site. It is reminiscent of StumbleUpon in the sense that you can "hop" to a random website and if you like it you can vote on it. However it is more than a simple thumbs up or down. You get to vote on the page in the form of beers. Yes, beers! You can rank the page from 1 to 5 beers, tag it, comment on it and then move on. Here are a couple of my pages that I have submitted, if you feel so inclined head on over and rank me. But more importantly, try out SiteHoppin and let me know what think. Granted, this site is in it's infancy and I think that Max has some tweaks to perform that will make it better but I think it is a good start.

"What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.2 - Issue 7

Wow, here it is 3:30 and I almost forgot to post today.

Here is a video that I got just little while ago. I don't care who you are, you are NOT getting me in the water and stick my hand down a HUGE catfish's throat.

Here's An Opinion Fer Ya.

Someone emailed this link to me. Take a few moments to review this video and let me know what you think about it. It seems that you never see anything that could be considered a strong opinion from anyone in the UK. However this gentleman has something to say.

I wonder how many people in the UK share his opinion but we just never hear about it.

Your thoughts?

Where Do You Get Your Printing?

As you may have noticed, over there on the right is another ad. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we have our second sponsor and as part of our agreement, here is the love.

Seriously, I have been in or a part of the printing industry for the better part of 7 or 8 years now and have handled everything from "quick" 2 color printing to custom embossed, die-cut, spot varnished, full color bound masterpieces. I learned a long time ago the one thing that every business owner should do is find a competent partner in the printing trade. A number of years ago I ran across a company called Pioneer Graphics in Waterloo, Iowa. Folks, I need to tell you, if you want a quality printing company, that is both intently focused on quality and customer service, you need to check out Pioneer.

Granted, they are a "sponsor" here on The Big Bald Blog but I am also a customer of theirs. Over the last 2 or 3 years, I have used them for almost 80% of my full color work and believe me, we do a TON of printing for a wide variety of clients.

Now, here's the good stuff. If you click on the ad to the right it will take you to a quote form page on the Pioneer website. At the bottom of the page there is a "promo code" box. In that box, if you enter BIGPAPPA, they are going to give you 500 FREE full color postcards with your order of $500.00 or more. AND as an added bonus, anyone that enters the BIGPAPPA promo code, they are going to be "extra aggressive" on their pricing.

So, if you're looking for mailers, direct mail services, flyers, brochures, catalogs, magazines, business cards or anything else that involves ink on paper, drop a line to my friend Jim Miller over a Pioneer Graphics. You will be glad you did.

No More Domain Tasting

Domain tasting is NO MOE! YES!

I have always wondered why ICANN allowed this "try before you buy" policy in the first place.

What is domain tasting you ask? It is the process of registering (temporarily) a domain to determine it's "financial viability". Basically, you monetize the heck of it to see how well it does. If the domain didn't pass the test, the owner had a 5 day grace period in which he could get a refund. The ones that do good, are retained by the registrant.

Now, you all have seen these "financial viability test sites" pop up in searches. You are searching for your favorite whatever and perhaps you misspell the word or maybe you don't. Either way, included in your results page is a link to a page that has absolutely nothing to do what what you are looking for except that it may have your keyword on there as a link to something else.

Wikipedia states, "In April 2006, out of 35 million registrations, only a little more than 2 million were permanent or actually purchased. By February 2007, the CEO of GoDaddy reported that of 55.1 million domain names registered, 51.5 million were canceled and refunded just before the 5 day grace period expired and only 3.6 million domain names were actually kept."

According to ICANN, this whole process was initially designed to help people out who made a typo in the registration of their domain. Of course, as you can tell from the above numbers, people soon began to exploit this clause of generosity.

DotSauce.com reports that a unanimous vote of 13-0 turned the once flexible rule into a thing of the past.

"The discussion was sparked in response to the scandalous practice of Network Solutions hijacking domain searches in recent weeks. Oddly enough, the industry can be thankful to Net Sol for getting the snowball rolling on the end of domain tasting."

So what does this mean for regular Joe Surfer? Better quality results? I hope so but we will have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, there may be glut of "bad tasting" domain names that will soon come up for sale on the secondary market. And I bet that it will dramatically cut down on the amount of "typo squatting." (FYI - That anchor text is going to www.budwiser.com, an obvious typo.)

Looks Like BlueRay Wins!

Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses!

You heard it right. For those of you who can remember the Beta vs. VHS battle, it looks like the second battle of video format is going to be won by BluRay.

I just got this in an email from a friend of mine who happens to be an electronics junkie:

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- "Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products.

HD DVD was developed to offer consumers access at an affordable price to high-quality, high definition content and prepare them for the digital convergence of tomorrow where the fusion of consumer electronics and IT will continue to progress.

"We carefully assessed the long-term impact of continuing the so-called 'next-generation format war' and concluded that a swift decision will best help the market develop," said Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation. "While we are disappointed for the company and more importantly, for the consumer, the real mass market opportunity for high definition content remains untapped and Toshiba is both able and determined to use our talent, technology and intellectual property to make digital convergence a reality."

Toshiba will continue to lead innovation, in a wide range of technologies that will drive mass market access to high definition content. These include high capacity NAND flash memory, small form factor hard disk drives, next generation CPUs, visual processing, and wireless and encryption technologies. The company expects to make forthcoming announcements around strategic progress in these convergence technologies.

Toshiba will begin to reduce shipments of HD DVD players and recorders to retail channels, aiming for cessation of these businesses by the end of March 2008. Toshiba also plans to end volume production of HD DVD disk drives for such applications as PCs and games in the same timeframe, yet will continue to make efforts to meet customer requirements. The company will continue to assess the position of notebook PCs with integrated HD DVD drives within the overall PC business relative to future market demand.

This decision will not impact on Toshiba's commitment to standard DVD, and the company will continue to market conventional DVD players and recorders. Toshiba intends to continue to contribute to the development of the DVD industry, as a member of the DVD Forum, an international organization with some 200 member companies, committed to the discussion and defining of optimum optical disc formats for the consumer and the related industries.

Toshiba also intends to maintain collaborative relations with the companies who joined with Toshiba in working to build up the HD DVD market, including Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and DreamWorks Animation and major Japanese and European content providers on the entertainment side, as well as leaders in the IT industry, including Microsoft, Intel, and HP. Toshiba will study possible collaboration with these companies for future business opportunities, utilizing the many assets generated through the development of HD DVD."

Well, there you have it. We will have to see what happens. Will the rest of the manufacturers follow suit?

I just thought of something. What ever happened to those really BIG "laser disks?"

"What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.2 - Issue 6

Ever since I started this section section on the blog, I have had a massive influx of funny/interesting things come across my desk. More than I normally get anyway. That brings us to the task at hand. The reporting of "what I found in my email" on Monday.

This week I have a couple of things, one is a joke about Dear Abby and the other has the pretty pictures that you all like. You know you do.

-------------------------------------------

Dear Abby,

My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning,
and, when I confront him, he denies everything. What's worse, everyone
knows that he cheats on me. It is so humiliating.

Also, since he lost his job eight years ago, he hasn't even looked for a new one. All he does all day is smoke cigars, cruise around and B.S. with his buddies while I have to work to pay the bills. Since our daughter went away to college he doesn't even pretend to like me and hints that I may be a lesbian. What should I do?

Signed: Clueless

------------------------------------------------

Dear Clueless,

Grow up and dump him. Good grief, woman - you don't need him anymore!
You're a United States Senator from New York running for President of the
United States. Act like one.

This next exhibit is a is a set of pictures that I got from an OSHA compliance person that I know. Evidently this is why we can get things done cheaper in China. They don't need the frivolous things like expensive safety equipment. After all, WE did it for years during the early 1900's without having the meddling government dictate what is safe and what is not safe :)

The Chinese construction hardhat.

The Chinese dust and particle free breathing apparatus.

The OSHA approved scaffolding (3Menandaplank Brand)

The Chinese lightweight welders mask.

With all the censorship and human rights issues going on over in China, this make me even more thankful that I live in the country that I do. Speaking of a great country, Brian G. Dennard, the man himself graced us with his presence and commented on the Berkley post. Go check it out.

Have a great week everyone!

The Valentines Day Virus

Here's a little bit of info that I picked up via WebProNews and I thought that I would pass along.

"In an email to WebProNews, a Kaspersky Lab spokesperson wrote, "Kaspersky Lab has detected a large-scale, global mass mailing of Valentine's Day spam. The spam was first identified by Kaspersky Lab on the morning of February 12, and as of the morning of February 13, the number of spam messages of this type have still not decreased. The message currently accounts for about 5% of all mail traffic checked by Kaspersky Hosted Security Services."

The problem is pretty big, in other words, and going into the 14th, is only likely to become worse.

We don't have any special malware-beating tips to share; just try to be a little more careful than usual. That special someone isn't going to love it if you turn your computer into a big doorstop."

Just make sure you know who it's coming from and above all make sure you are not opening any .exe files. Oh yeah, and wait till next month to buy roses.

Have a safe and happy Valentines Day!

Berkley Doesn't Like The Marines

After you read this I want to hear from you. I will save MY opinion for the comments section.

Berkeley to Marine Corps: You're Not Welcome
BERKELEY, Calif. Local officials in this liberal city say it's time for the U.S. Marines to move out. The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and "if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests." The measure passed this week by a vote of 8-1.
Source: Fox News

Here is a letter a businessman (Brian Dennard) wrote to the Mayor of Berkeley.
Dear Mayor Bates,
In that you and your city have chosen to gravely insult the brave men and women, who have indeed bought you that right with their blood, I am informing you that my company will no longer do business with any of our current suppliers located in the Berkeley, California metro area.

In that my company is in international resort real estate development, and do business with and am associated with, developers and investors worldwide, I am informing all of my contacts, associates and patrons that we will no longer do any business of any sort with anyone living in the Berkeley area.

In that we/MDG Resorts are currently building a state of the art mega-yacht marina, all of the suppliers of Marina equipment, all owners of Yachts , all suppliers of Yacht materials & supplies, all yacht brokers and all tangential yacht business purveyors will likewise be informed that we will not do any business whatsoever with anyone from the Berkeley area.

Likewise all suppliers of building materials, both interior and exterior, currently associated with any of our several resort developments (Brisamar 300+ villas and 200+ condos: Porto Hussong, www.portohussong.com 500+ condos, 180 slip mega-yacht marina) both of which I might add have international recognition by virtue of glowing reports in Robb Report, Wall Street Journal, Yacht World, Forbes.

I will likewise inform all of our investors, most of whom are very wealthy yacht owners, casino owners, high net worth international businessmen, of our decision to essentially boycott all products and providers located in, or associated with in any way whatsoever, Berkeley, Ca.

Trust me when I say that having been in the real estate development business for over 35 years, our list of contacts and associates is long and very, very impressive. We, and I personally, are going to recomend that they ALL along with us boycott your city, its purveyors, suppliers, and businesses and CHARITIES of every kind.

You have every right to choose to take the obnoxious anti-military stance you have taken, and as stated, that right was bought for you with the blood of better men than you. I too have every right to do all that I can to insure that your city suffers consequences arising from that obnoxious, sickening stance.

Cordially,
Brian G Dennard
Principal
Director
Meridian Development Group, LLC
www.mdgresorts.com
www.portohussong.com

Here is some additional commentary I found on the subject.

"On Jan 31, 2008 I wrote a letter to the Mayor of Berkeley stating my position regarding his and the City Counsel's position on the USMC recruiting station...

...In my wildest dreams I never envisioned the response I have received. I now spend ALL DAY answering my cell phone acknowledging that yes, I really did write "THE" letter, and receiving personal thank yous from Generals, Majors, Colonels, SGTs, PVTs, CEOs, COOs, talk show hosts, and average everyday American Patriots.

Likewise I spend the balance reading emails from the same sort of people.
I am humbled to a degree that is hard to state clearly. I am emotionally overwhelmed with the positive response to my letter and want to thank everyone who has called me or emailed me to state their support.

My intention was never to shine the spotlight on me, it was to cause, to whatever degree I could, great fiscal discomfort to the city of Berkeley in retaliation to their un-American, cowardly and despicable stance that the US Marines are unwelcome, and uninvited intruders in their city.
If in my small way I helped light a fire that now appears to be blazing across the nation, I am proud of that, but I am more proud of the fact that I could, at a time when our heroes are fighting against those who would destroy us, help focus some attention to the vast debt, and undying respect, that we as a nation owe to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces."

Respectfully,
Brian G Dennard

Marketing With Ink And Paper

Since you are paying for it, when you send out a post card you want to maximize the amount of text on the piece to make it worth your while right?

WRONG!

I have seen this mistake made over and over. Inexperienced marketers commonly make the fatal mistake of cramming tons of text into a tiny post card, hoping to convey as much information as an 11 x 17 brochure. In fact, I have kept several examples of post cards as example of what NOT to do (similar to my business card collection) when you are contemplating a direct mail campaign. I am opting out of showing them because they may get recognized but trust me, they are terrible.

It's real easy - when you decide to throw your hat into the direct mail ring, just remember, less is more. If you flood the entire front and back of a postcard in the hopes of getting your complete message across, your wordy piece piece of post office love is going to find it's way into the round file. When this happens, the only one that benefited from your endeavor was the post office.

So what's a person to do when you want to get the most out of your direct mail program.

  1. If you are promoting a "sale" focus on the time sensitive information and the action items associated with the event.
  2. Focus on a "pain" and elude to a solution. This will elicit a contact.
  3. Keep your message as short as possible and still be able to convey the "need-to-know" information.
  4. Design an interesting "front" that will make people want to turn it over and find out more.
  5. If you are engaging in a multi-month direct mail campaign, make sure all of your pieces have continuity with each other inside the confines of the campaign.
Before you begin, sit down and work out a plan for your campaign. Address who you want to target, what you want to target them with, how many times you want to "touch" them during the campaign and what is your follow up plan. If you know what you want before you approach your designer or ad exec, you will be much further ahead.

Some of our most successful direct mail campaigns have included nothing more than the company's website or one word on the front. However, the highest rate of return I have experienced, has been with dimensional mail. This type of mailing has a higher cost per piece and typically a lower volume but we have seen returns as high as 27%.

Bottom Line? Clean, simple text and design = better results

Have questions about marketing? Let me know what's on your mind. C'mon, talk to BigPappa!

Do You Like Cigars?

Here's a little secret about me. I love to kick back and have a cigar every once in a while. There's nothing better than sitting out on the deck on a warm summer night and drawing away on my favorite smoky treat.

A while back, I ran across a site called CigarJack.net. It is a nice resource for non-biased opinions on cigars and other cigar related interests. The other day Cigar Jack contacted me and let me know that he has something special going on.

Celebrating 1 year of writing cigar reviews Cigar Jack is having a contest sponsored by Camacho. Every day in March Cigar Jack is giving away a 5-Pack of Camacho Cigars and a Camacho Hat. The best entry submitted will win a box of Camacho 10th Anniversary Corojo Cigars. Entries are now being accepted and you don't have to be a cigar review expert to enter. Check out the contest page on Cigar Jack's Cigar Reviews and News to enter.

Go ahead and check it out. I think that I will submit some of my favorite cigar and beverage parings.

"What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.2 - Issue 5

Here we are again after a long week and weekend of battling snow and ice. But there is hope. Hope that many find in the comforts of "what I found in my email" Monday's.

Several years ago, I lost my family event "cake getting" duties. You see, when I was charged with the duty (yes I said duty) of getting a cake for some family function or get together, I would go to the local bakery or grocery store and just pick up the first thing I would see. I wouldn't even read it. Sometimes I would grab a Batman cake for my Dad's 60th birthday party. Or a bar mitzvah cake for an anniversary. HOWEVER, I have never perpetrated a caper quite like the one shown on cake shown below.

I don't blame the recipient for this, rather the non-enrish speaking employee of the bakery is probably at fault.

Here is how I think this went down:

Walmart Employee: Hello 'dis Walmarts, how can I hepp you?'

Customer: 'I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week.'

Walmart Employee: 'What you wan on cak?'

Customer: 'Best Wishes Suzanne' and underneath that 'We will miss you'.

Happy Monday everyone.

Contest Haters

What do you do when you don't' want to have a contest? You have an anti-contest. Yep, you go all out in full protest and have people email you something. Well at least that's what Andy (the other one) did.

I was making my way through some of my favorite blogs and Andy over at Stationatomica.com was having what he referred to as an anti-contest. You don't have to subscribe to anything, blog about anything or even leave a comment. You simply have to draw a picture of a unicorn or Arnold Schwarzenegger and email it to him.

So I picked the unicorn. As I was inking out my glorious work of art in MS Paint, something flashed in my memory. It was an adventure story about a unicorn named Charlie. A tale of friendship, a tale of discovery and a story of deception. I searched long and hard in an attempt to rediscover this lost tale of my youth. Then there it was in all its glory.

Use this as a guide by which you live your life. "Shun the non-believers, shuuuuunnnnnnnnnn."

Review Of Rock Band On The XBox 360

It's no secret that I like video games and have been "rockin' out" to Guitar Hero 3 for several months now. I have about 6 or 7 songs left to beat on hard and it's NOT going well. I can't seem to get my pinky finger working. My poor unused digit starts to ache and then it begins clicking and it's all down hill from there.

The other day i decided to go out and pick up Rock Band and see what it was all about. I started to unpack everything and began the assembly. The Guitar was the fist thing out of the box. After some assembly, I immediately noticed that the new black and white (corded) guitar was really flimsy. It was lighter than my normal "Explorer" guitar and the fret buttons appeared to be a lot cheaper. Also, the "strummer" didn't have that familiar click that the explorer had, it was more, well uh, "musy." It did have a couple of cool features, there was an effects selector to determine sounds during solos and a second set of fret keys down closer to the body of the guitar. The general feeling I got from the guitar is that IT WAS CHEAP.

The drums came out next and went together very nicely. The only thing I noticed was that the cord for the bass pedal seemed short. I tried out the drums on the training mode in an attempt to get the hang of it. After about 40 minutes of playing, the drums quit working. Yep, they just quit working. NO, not just one of them as indicated on so many discussion boards, but the entire set. No power, nothing! Well, that was disheartening to say the least.

Next out of the box was the mic. I plugged it into the supplied USB powered hub and guess what? IT didn't work. Great! I was afraid to plug in the guitar and see if that would work. What do you know, it did! I ended up playing the game with a friend for about an hour.

I have no complaints about the game play. The concept is fun, the graphics are OK, (the are better on GH3) and the music selection is outstanding. However, it seemed like you had to play a bunch of the songs over and over as you went from city to city. Now that I think about it, it's just like a real rock band I guess.

The next day I took it back to target and got my money back, even though the box said not to do that. Yeah right. Target took it back and simply asked the question, "was there anything wrong with the product?" To which I responded, "yep, 2 out of the 3 items don't work."

Today before writing this I went out in search of information about the Rock Band peripherals and it seems that the quality is suffering across the board. Initially, I was thinking that I got a lemon, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Evidently there is a 3rd party vendor getting ready to launch some peripherals. I may wait for those.

Bottom line - It's not worth it, YET! I will probably go out and get the game by itself and maybe an extra guitar, but that's it for now. Give it some time and you should be able to build your band set with some quality pieces from other manufacturers and have tons of fun with 3 other friends. It should be worth the wait.

My Favorite TV Commercial Of All Time.

I know, I know, we have been down this road before. I was hoping for something new or something fresh this year from the Super Big Game Bowl (what ever we can call it), but again, I was let down. In fact I have been disappointed since 2002 when, what I believe to be, the greatest television commercial of all time was released.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Terry Tate, Office linebacker.

Reebok made a series of shorts around the Terry Tate character. The acting is great, the effects are good, but the writing is over-the-top without being in your face. I mean seriously, take a look at the name of the company. Also, in the sensitivity training video, pay attention to the name of the HR firm that they hired.

Lester "Mighty Rasta" Speight (the actor playing Terry Tate) did an awesome job. Lines like "you kill the joe, you make some mo", and "you can't bring that weak a** stuff up in this humpity-bumpity" are simply priceless. I don't care how many times I go back and watch this, it makes me laugh every time.

So let me have it. What do YOU think is the best television commercial of all time? What is your favorite spot and why? Try and convince me otherwise and maybe I'll reconsider, but probably not. Until then Terry Tate has my vote for the best TV commercial of all time.

"What I Found In My Email" Mondays. Vol.2 - Issue 4

Here we are in our post Super Bowl haze - woops, I almost forgot you can't use that. You have to say "Big Game". I am probably going to get sued now. Anyway, what did everyone think of the commercials. Thumbs down for me. This year, I thought that the game was better than the commercials. Normally, it's the other way around. Actually, the game was one of the biggest upsets since the 70's I believe. As far as commercials go, I still haven't seen anything that will top the Terry Tate Office Linebacker commercials from several years back.

But here we are, trudging ahead trying to make sense of the world around us. But wait! All hope is not lost. It's MONDAY, and you know what that means. That's right, it's time for another edition of "what I found in my email" Mondays.

After having watched this, I almost want to say the famous line from Caddyshack..."cannonbaaallll, cannon ball comin..."

For those of you who have grown up with the "sprinkling" type baptisms this may not be as funny. And for those of you who do the dunk, this is really funny.

Have a great week everyone.

Make Money Online With This Contest.

Here it is again the next $100 dollar round. Joe Tech should be announcing the winner of last month's $100 contest soon so make sure you keep checking back. For those of you who are just hearing about this, here's the skinny. We want to give you money. Yep it's that easy. How do you enter?

To gain entries into the contest, just do any of the following:
- Make a comment of value (not just “i agree”, etc.) on a post = 1 entry (remember to comment on all blogs)
- Subscribe to RSS via email = 2 entries (per blog you subscribe to!)
- Write a post about the contest on your blog (must include a link to this page and the links below to participating blogs) = 25 entries

How much easier can we make it? So you can sneak in with just one entry by simply posting a comment here, you can increase your odds by reading and commenting on a few more posts here and at one of the blogs below and maybe subscribe to a couple, or you can really up the odds and subscribe to all all of our blogs (which you’ll enjoy reading anyway), comment on a bunch of posts, and blog about this contest. The more entries you earn, the better your odds, of course. If you’re going to post about this contest, just grab the image and code from here.

The deadline for this contest is 12:00 AM March 1, 2008.

Who wants to pay you?
- JoeTech.com
- Link Bait
- Gorilla Sushi
- CK Marketing
- The Big Bald Blog
- How 2 Blogger
- Dot Sauce Magazine
- Jason Boom

Good luck everyone!
