Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As I sit up here in Wisconsin I got to thinking about how nice it is to get away and spend time with family and friends. I am thankful for being blessed with opportunities like this.

Tell someone close to you this holiday season that you are thankful for them. Also let me know what else you are thankful for?

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Pops

A Doomsday Machine?

Doomsday machine or the secret to the universe?

Tomorrow they are going to fire up the Hardron Collider. What is that you ask?

The AP says "It has been called an Alice in Wonderland investigation into the makeup of the universe — or a dangerous tampering with nature that could spell doomsday. Whatever the case, the most powerful atom-smasher ever built comes online Wednesday, eagerly anticipated by scientists worldwide who have awaited this moment for two decades."

The Hardron Collider is a 4 billion dollar, 17 mile long tunnel where big brained individuals are planning on smashing atoms together in the hopes of understanding the "Big Bang Theory" and dark matter.

Some opponents of the collider have filed law suits to halt the switch trowing on Wednesday claiming that it could open tiny black holes and "endanger the planet." What?!? That doesn't sound good. It's my understanding that black holes suck everything in that gets close to them, including light. Now, I don't claim the be the smartest person in the world (only the 5th) but check me if I'm wrong cowboy, I think this would be a bad thing to have black holes here on earth. The folks at European Organization for Nuclear Research have dismissed the risk and assured us that nothing like that will happen. Good, I feel much better now.

Basically everyone has their theories on what will happen when they power this thing up but no one REALLY knows for sure. I can see it now. "OK guys, here it goes... Click" and everyone in the room gets sucked in. The guys in the control booth say, "Well that didn't go as planned."

Black holes here we come

Doesn't it remind you of the large magnet in Terminator 3 that the T-1000 got stuck to.

So tomorrow when you are walking in the mall and you see a big sink hole near the fountain that is sucking everything in, you will know what it is. There you have it, your happy thought for the day. The world is coming to an end tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.

Backseat Bloggers

I get a lot of suggestions on what to blog about and topics that I should cover. Most of these are coming from people who know me or I have met in the blogosphere.

Here's a real opportunity for all you backseat bloggers. I want YOU to write a post for The Big Bald Blog! Just contact me and I will give you an address where you can send your post. I will take a look at it and make sure it gets put up.

I am serious here. If you give me a legitimate post about anything I will put it up. Unless of course the post talks about how much you hate pizza. Blaspheming pizza will get you nowhere and may get you banned for life.

I have had several guest bloggers in the past and the posts were well received! As summer approaches, the frequency of the posts may drop to 3 times a week as I will be engaged in various outdoor activities. Primarily heading to the north woods.

So what's bugging you about society? What are some of your pet peeves? What do you hate about the internet? What is your favorite TV commercial? What do you like about cheese? Why do bugs always get into a seemingly sealed light fixture on the ceiling? Have you ever been hit in the head with a Bocce Ball? These are the things that people want to know about. Write a brief literary masterpiece and send it to Big Pappa!
